GAMA ultimately serves the community with our events, exhibitions, and performances. We are rooted in Islamic spirituality so that we can best serve our Muslim communities and are also open to collaborating and building with allies. Our audience includes all who are interested and support our mission and vision.
The artist communities that we serve specifically are Muslims (self-identifying), Muslim-adjacent (seekers/allies), and Islamicate (Islamic themes in art but not necessarily Muslim). We are not, however, a religious organization in the sense that we do not proselytize any doctrine-specific idea of Islam, nor do we allow differences to be exacerbated in our spaces. We require that individuals and groups respect the spaces we have created, and not bring any harm that may be disruptive of this inclusivity.
